Timezone Handling in PoolCar
PoolCar operates using a single, company-wide default timezone, configured by a system administrator under Application Settings > Localisation.
While users can select a personal timezone under My Settings in the bottom navigation bar, all bookings are ultimately managed against the company’s default timezone.
If a user’s selected timezone differs from the company default, booking times may appear inconsistent, which can lead to confusion around vehicle availability.
To ensure accuracy and consistency, we strongly recommend that all users operate and book vehicles using the company’s default timezone, regardless of their physical location.
We recognise this may be challenging for organisations operating across multiple time zones and are currently assessing the impact of this approach. In the meantime, aligning all users to the company default timezone is the best way to maintain reliable booking behaviour in PoolCar.
Example – Australia-based organisation
An organisation headquartered in Sydney (UTC+10:00) with offices in Perth (UTC+8:00) and Adelaide (UTC+9:30) sets its default timezone to Sydney time.
All users, including those in Perth and Adelaide, should make bookings based on Sydney time.
For example, if a Perth-based employee requires a vehicle at 9:00 am Perth time (UTC+8:00), the booking should be entered in PoolCar as 11:00 am Sydney time (UTC+10:00).
This ensures vehicle availability and bookings are managed consistently across the organisation.
