When a driver activates their in-vehicle emergency dash switch, a vehicle is involved in a significant force event, or a person activates their personal locator device, a number of actions occur; The Smartrak device recognises this signal and sends an emergency alert back to the main system (As long as the vehicle/device is within cellphone coverage, unless a satellite unit has been installed (not standard)) The alert will be displayed on the map screen for all users that have permission to view that vehicle/device.

Map users, that view the alert, will have the option to; Acknowledge the emergency, which indicates you’re aware of the emergency and have taken ownership of it, but it is not yet cleared. Clear the emergency, the user who has determined why the alert was raised, will clear the event, records the action taken.
Please be aware that acknowledging or clearing the alert will affect all users, so please only take these actions once you have investigated and are taking ownership of the alert. It is recommended that identified users, follow a predetermined process which is documented and understood by all stakeholders.
