- Log into the Smartrak Map site (NZ or AU)
- From here there are two ways to send a message to the Garmin or check historical messages
- Navigate to the Messaging module
- Click on New Message to send a message to one/some/all of your fleet with Garmin installed and interfaced to the Smartrak hardware
- Click on Message History to see all historical messages, select the resource and the date range and click on Go (please note that messages cannot be deleted once they have been sent or received)
- The other way is to locate the vehicle on the map and select it by clicking on it on the map or by clicking on it from the right menu (2.)
- Select the Messaging tab, you will see the recent messaging history and you can type a new message (up to 199 characters) to send
- In the vehicle, the message shows as an envelope on the right hand side of the Garmin screen
- All messages show in a list with the newest at the top, unread show as a closed envelope, read show as an opened envelope
- Tap on the message to view whole message
- To reply, tap on the three lines at the top left and select reply, enter message and tap on Done to send
- Replied to messages show a small arrow above the open envelope
- Message is received on the Smartrak Map
