Illuminated Dash Switch & IP66-Rated Illuminated Dash Switch
Ensure even when your staff are driving they can covertly activate duress should they become uncomfortable or concerned about their safety. Smartrak’s In-Vehicle Emergency Dash Switch is designed to work as an additional accessory to the Smartrak AVL, providing an extra element of safety and support to your fleet drivers.
Location In Vehicle | |
---|---|
Illuminated IP66 rated | The location of the illuminated dash switch depends on the model of vehicle. Smartrak has requested that our installers locate them on the switch panel on the right hand side of the steering wheel, but sometimes this isn’t possible and the switch will be located elsewhere. The rule of thumb is for the switch to be installed in a location where it will not be accidentally activated. |
How it Works | |
Mechanically | The dash switch is pressed and held for 3 seconds until the light glows red. When the Smartrak System has acknowledged the emergency, the light goes out. **Please note that the vehicle must be in cell phone coverage for this to occur. If the light continues to glow red, then the vehicle is not in cell phone coverage area and the emergency has not been received by the Smartrak Server. |
Technically | When the dash switch is pushed, it sends a message via the AVL to the Smartrak System which in turn (if set up) sends a text message and/or email to the alert recipients that are set up in the Smartrak Admin site. |
Satellite Coverage | If the vehicle has an Iridium satellite modem set up, then the light will turn off when the satellite message has been sent over the Iridium satellite network. This is not an indication that it has reached the Smartrak Server as we do not provide a two-way satellite communication service. |
When Utilised | The illuminated dash switch should be used in the event of an emergency. The IP66-rated illuminated dash switch should be used for vehicles where a harsh environment may be a factor (e.g. quad bikes). |
