Insights - Fleet Utilisation - Out of Geofence

Out of Geofence

The Out of Geofence Tab in the Utilisation Module is a first addition to the Insights Platform, designed specifically for Fleet Managers to monitor and optimise the efficiency of their fleets. The tab displays the percentage of time vehicles are outside a defined pool geofence (or multiple geofences), along with trends over time. This information can be further broken down by groups and vehicles to provide a detailed understanding of fleet usage patterns.

Benefits

  • Cost benefit: Right size fleet and eliminate waste

  • Service quality improvement benefit: Reduce staff inconvenience due to not having a vehicle available

Achieved by:

Troubleshooting

Why can I not see the Insights module?

You may need to have the Insights module enabled for your organisation manually.

Why are many (or all) Groups showing as 100% utilisation?

First of all, ensure that the geofences that you want to show utilisation for are enabled for the “Availability” feature. As per these instructions here.

For Groups of assets that have never been inside the Geofences you have selected, then the report will show them as 100% utilisation. For example, if you have an Auckland Geofence and you select a Group of vehicles in Christchurch, then you can expect that that all vehicles in that group are outside of the Auckland geofence 100% of the time. So be sure to chose the Groups that are relevant to the Geofences you would like see utilisation for.

Disclaimer

There are a few differences between the report and Insights calculations. Although they perform similar functions, they handle the data differently and are located in different areas of the codebase. Weekends and public holidays are never filtered out for Insights and are included in the Insights results. Additionally, Insights breaks the data into 15-minute time blocks. This might slightly skew the data, but it's unlikely to cause any significant issues.

Furthermore, in some cases, reports may have a minor calculation bug, which can be brought to the attention of the relevant team for investigation.
