Insights - Sustainability - Now available for both NZ & AU customers

Emissions Profile

The Emissions Tab, the newest addition to the Smartrak Insights Platform. This tab showcases the average vehicle CO2 emissions (measured in kg) for a selected period and traces CO2 emissions and distance covered by various vehicle engine types over time.

The presented data can assist fleet managers in overseeing and optimising CO2 emissions of their fleet. The Emissions Profile is aligned with the Ministry for the Environment — Manatū Mō Te Taiao’s “Emissions reporting workbook”, and our existing “Vehicle Emission Report” available via Reporting in the Smartrak Admin site. Please note that this report in Smartrak Admin is only available for NZ customers.

Benefits

  • Save time! The use of graphical reporting minimises the time needed for analysing numerical emissions reports.

  • Save money! The use of tailored data can effectively promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs).

Prerequisites

  • Customer to assign vehicles to appropriate groups in Smartrak Admin. Note that all insights reports require groups to be created and vehicles assigned via Smartrak Admin, in order to access.

  • Sustainability insights needs to be assigned to your organisation, if you cannot see the Insights > Sustainability tab (as per below screenshot) in your Smartrak app account, please raise a ticket in the Smartrak Service Desk to have this enabled for your organisation.

  • Ensure your vehicle details are correct for accurate emissions reporting

Checking vehicle accuracy in Smartrak Admin

In Smartrak Admin > Resource Info > Resource Info tab, you must enter the exact make, model, sub model (if applicable) and year for each vehicle record

  • This will ensure the emissions data and EV Fleet data is accurate.

  • There are a large number of vehicle makes and models available.

  • If you cannot find your vehicle there are 2 options:

    • Choose a similar model

    • Lodge a ticket in the Smartrak Service Desk for your vehicle to be added to the lookup table.

How to use

Date Range, Groups and Engine Types

Date Range - select from dropdown or Edit Dates to select custom date range. Note the date range will determine the grouping of the bars in the graph.

Groups – select from groups assigned to user

Engine Type - select from available engine types - ICE, HEV, PHEV, EV

These settings are stored in the local storage on your PC so will remember settings

How to interpret the data

The left y axis of the graph measures the amount of CO2 emissions (kg) and is displayed on the graph as a black line

The right y axis of the graph measures the distance travelled (x1000 km) and is displayed on the graph as the coloured bars which are divided by engine type: ICE, HEV, PHEV, EV

The x axis is the date range

On the right-hand side of the graph are the totals:

  • Total CO2 emissions for selected vehicles

  • Total number of selected vehicles

  • Average CO2 per period

  • Total distance travelled by selected vehicles

Drill down for more info

Hover over the bars in the graph to display the total emissions and the distance travelled by each vehicle type.

Identifying trends over time

You will see trends appear over time, with higher use of EVs and Hybrids resulting in lower overall emissions.
