When viewing vehicle information and reports, you may see overspeed events.
These are events that the driver has either exceeded the default overspeed threshold of 5km/h over the posted speed limit, 101km/h, or your company's set overspeed limit
The checks to make when verifying overspeed events:
Is the overspeed event actually on the road? If the event is half-way up a hill or on top of a house, then the event was subject to GPS bounce and is not correct
Is the overspeed event in a highly built-up area? Even if the event is on the road, sometimes a highly built up area or canopy coverage will create GPS bounce
Check the events immediately before and after the overspeed event. If there is a large jump in speed in a small amount of time, this event may not be correct
It is recommended that these events are viewed as a trend for the driver, rather as individual events. Unless the speed has dangerously exceeded acceptable limits
If there is a pattern of high number of overspeeding or high g-force events, compared to other drivers, further investigation of vehicle/driver history may be appropriate
